Questions
How much coir does one brick make?
About 8 quarts per 1.4 lb brick once fully hydrated. The 5-brick pack makes about 40 quarts and the 10-brick pack about 80 quarts.
Do I need to rinse it before use?
NURTARA coir is triple machine washed to remove dust, excess salts and sodium, and it is low in EC and pH balanced, so you can use it once it has expanded. If you grow very sensitive plants or run hydroponics, you can still rinse it and check EC yourself.
Does coconut coir contain nutrients?
Coir is a growing medium, not a fertilizer. Add compost or a fertilizer that suits your plants, or a nutrient solution for hydroponics.
Can I use coir on its own?
Yes. It works on its own for seed starting, or mixed with soil, compost, perlite or bark for potting mixes and garden beds.
How do I store bricks I have not used yet?
Keep unopened bricks dry and in their wrap. They store compactly until you add water.
